Abstract

Introduction.Biocrystallomics methods are considered today as a universal laboratory technology.Aim. Assessment of the features of crystalloscopic facies of mixed saliva in children hospitalized due to the presence of comorbid ENT pathology.Materials and methods. The study of crystallogenic activity was carried out by implementing the method of classical crystalloscopy. 28 children aged from 3 to 17 years were examined, among which there were 17 children with hypertrophy of the adenoids and palatine tonsils of the 3rd degree, 1 child with hypertrophy of the adenoids of the 3rd degree, 3 children with a peritonsillar abscess, 2 children with acute purulent otitis media, 2 children with chronic purulent otitis media, 1 child with a cyst of the left maxillary sinus, 1 child with chronic maxillary sinusitis, 1 child with varicose veins of the nasal septum, 1 child with cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and left bronchus, and 1 child with other diseases of the larynx, hospitalized in the ENT Department of the GBUZ NO “Children’s City Hospital No. 1” of Nizhny Novgorod, and the article presents a clinical case of a 11-year-old boy with comorbid ENT pathology. Crystallization was carried out by the method of natural dehydration of a mixed saliva sample on glass. The intensification of the crystallization process was carried out by the method of thesesography, which consists in the introduction of chemical compounds (Na Cl 0.9%) into the biological fluid.Results. The analysis of the crystallograms of saliva revealed a number of characteristic changes. There were single crystals, which were located at a distance from each other. There was also a significant destruction of the facies elements and a lot of background unstructured components. Statistical analysis confirmed the reliability of visual observations: the structural index and the severity of the marginal zone were reduced by 1.42 and 1.46 times, respectively (p<0.05 for both parameters). At the same time, the degree of facies destruction was significantly increased by 3.97 times.Conclusion.It has been establishedthat ENT pathology causes significant changes in the component composition and physical and chemical properties of mixed saliva in children, resulting in a pronounced disruption of crystallogenic activity.
